Adverse Action Pursuant to FCRA
Description:
This sample letter
informs a candidate that the employer will not be extending an offer of
employment, due in part to information contained in a consumer report
obtained by the employer, and explains the candidate's right to obtain
and dispute the accuracy or completeness of such report.
Caution:
Many states have laws which prohibit or limit an employer's use of
consumer credit reports or criminal records checks and/or prohibit
discrimination based on credit or criminal history information. Be sure
